A day in the life

It's been awhile since I have posted anything. It's because my personal life is so much more busy than my work life. I seem to do little reference work but direct patrons more on how to log into the computers and how to print. How boring.

I did come up with a proposal on training new staff. There seems to be no systematic way of training anyone around here. A manager started coming up with a system of getting some things down in print. The committee that I chair added to it. So, after that, I wrote a proposal for a New Staff Training Coordinator. It would take the pressure off of the very busy managers and give the coordinating to me. I am very good at details and I end up doing all the computer training anyway.

I wrote the proposal, sent it to my boss, he forwarded it to the administration. The admin turned around and assigned it to the manager who started the entire process. Ok, let me sit on desk with nothing to do. See if I care.

It gives me time to work on my blog!

Happy New Year. It sure feels like a Monday today.

Someone wanted a video on how to do surgery. He implied he was going to med school and wanted a head start.

Can't the public look on the shelves without my help for videos that are in alphabetical order? Guess not. Makes me feel smart.

December 30th, 2003
My first attempted at blogging.

Patron asked "Where did air come from?" When asked if this was similar to the chicken and the egg, he replied "The egg came first." He sees energy cells in the air. Yeah right.

When calling patrons to register for computer classes, a woman wanted to know if "Donna" was taken as an user name for an email account. Yes, I said. How about Maria? She has a lot to learn. I won't register for the class I am teaching. I steered her to another.

How many times must you tell patrons that not everyone wants to hear their personal conversations?
